Some summer good stuff

Good news for TV viewers today --some shows worth watching come back this week.
--Kyra Sedgwick returns as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson as “The Closer” comes back for a second season on TNT (9 p.m.), followed by Tom Everett Scott in TNT’s new “Saved,” a drama about Portland, Ore., paramedics (10 p.m..)
--“Friends” has jumped from Fox19 to Star64. So catch Rachel, Ross, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey at 7 & 7:30 p.m. on Channel 64.
--Mad Mike revs up a new season of “Pimp My Ride” at 10 p.m. Thursday on MTV.
--And Fox repeats “24” this summer in two-hour blocks on Friday (8-10 p.m.), starting this week.
Any of these are better than CBS’ new “Tuesday Night Book Club” (10 p.m.) reality show about seven Arizona women… or NBC’s dreadful new “Windfall” summer drama. NBC just pulled a repeat of the “Windfall” pilot from 9 p.m. Thursday for Matt Lauer’s “Dateline NBC” interview with Britney Spears. (The pilot reran Sunday night too.)

Welcome back Charlie Rose
Charlie Rose, one of TV’s best interviewers, finally resumes hosting his “Charlie Rose” show today (midnight, Channel 16). He had heart surgery in March.

View from the bridge
Boy, NBC’s “Weekend Today” show really cut off Sheree Paolello’s report from the Purple People Bridge Climb Saturday morning, didn’t they? And yes, Lester Holt called her Sherry… Tonight Ch 5 devotes a half-hour special (7:30 p.m.) to the bridge climb, which opens Tuesday.

Channel 5 just needs to blow everybody out and start over. And stop trying to be so glitzy. Using bells and whistles and inane things like "mobile newsroom" ain't gonna cut it. That's been obvious.

John,

Did you see that Harvey Smilovitz is leaving Ch. 12? Do you know anything about this? Do you think you could run a story on this? He's been there for 8 years; that's a long time for a weekend anchor. Any idea where he's going, etc.?

and what ever did happen to Frank Graf, Susan Barr? People leave KRC and you never hear about them...

yeah, whatever did happen to them?

By the way--it was 'Teri' Barr. She was great, wasn't she. She had a weird voice, though.

Rescue me is the best drama on tv. If dennis leary doesn't get an emmy then its a shame.

Anyways I can't wait for hell's kitchen to return tonight.

Actually, Cincinnati IS a large market. It's not a MAJOR market. NY, L.A., SF, etc... are large markets. Cincy, Milwaukee, Indy are large markets, Louisville, Dayton, Fort Wayne are medium.

And also a little FYI:

Jude Redfield (former Ch. 12 meteorologist) and Lynsay Clutter (former Ch. 19 reporter) both now work at the station Anne Marie Tiernon works at (former Ch. 5 anchor), which is WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, IN. Anne Marie anchors the 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts and serves as the Eyewitness 13 Health Reporter there.
