"The Weasel" Back On The Air

More SupertalkFM96.5 news: Jimmy "The Weasel" Salzarulo, last heard afternoons on WAQZ-FM, will do a general talk show on WFTK-FM (SupertalkFM96.5) 3-6 p.m. Saturdays, starting this weekend.

Here's the email from Jeff Davis, Supertalk assistant program director:

"I'm excited to announce that Jimmy "The Weasel" Salzarulo has agreed to do the Saturday 3-6 p.m. show. Weasel will do a general talk and interview show hitting on the hot topics locally, and talking about what's going on around Cincinnati and the Tristate, whether it's sports, music, politics or whatever. His pal Notorios may also be hanging out during those three hours. Notorious was Jimmy's traffic guy/sidekick when he was doing afternoons on WAQZ. We really can't afford to pay them both, so Weasel will pay Notorious in beer after the show."

Weasel talk? What will that sound like?

Good for Jimmy. I always like his radio workings in his past stops. 96.5 really seems to be pulling things together with a local slant. Not only is it clearer than WLW, but it is skewing younger with local programming. If they could grab Scott Sloan or Sterling (I think he is still around)... this station could make some noise!

Grad Sterling?!?!?!?!

I'd rather listen to hail hit my paint job than that clown. Sloan is funny.

Who they need is Jason Erhardt. If a traffic guy like Notorious can get a sidekick gig, then a real talent like "J-Dog" should get a shot. I'm sure he likes beer too.

You didn't like Sterling? The guy that did some work with WLW and in Columbus? I thought he was good, and would have gotten better if given more / better time.

The key is that they have to be younger... Anything to battle the stale topics / ideoligies 700 runs out daily.

Two Angry Guys, Scott Sloan, and Andy Furman could be a formidable lineup for the Bigger One. I like it...

Also, Erhardt is a good guy. I'd like to see him get more than traffic. I worked with him one as an experiment at BOB long ago, and he was great.

Weasel on 96.5? When I saw the headline I expected the news to be that he was joining 94.9. Who would want to listen to Jimmy "the Weasel" host a talk show?

Speaking of 94.9 when does their cutting edge morning team that I won't be listening to start?

john,
Got to call you on this on. jimmy's last gig was co-hosting Jerry Springer's national radio show along with former channel 5 reporter Bina Roy.

The Weasel on a talk show. Sounds like a good idea. I always liked him and Notorious on 97.3

What I remember of Weasel's show on WAQZ was comedy bits. I don't remember a lot of intelligent talk, so it might be fun to hear him in this completely different element. Notorious on the other hand, was awful.

As for the above comment about 94.9's morning show, I imagine they have dropped the idea of a "cutting edge show" after they rated pretty well in mornings with nothing but music.
