Did you know Steven Spielberg or his family here in the late 1940s? I'm looking for people who did.
The Oscar-winning film director was born here in 1946 while his father, Arnold, studied electrical engineering at UC and his mother, Leah Posner Spielberg, studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. They lived on

Why is this newsworthy? A bit frivolous, you think?
Spielberg lived here for his first few years. Did the milquetoast ways of Cincinnati's 'art' and 'culture' cultivate his creative mind?
I'd HIGHLY doubt that...
Why are the media in Cincinnati always trying to piggyback themselves onto others successes simply because someone may have spent a few years in this town?
And for a city that can't shoot straight as far as attracting and keeping successful film/music production in the area, maybe it's time to focus on something Cincinnati is great at - pushing the creative people away so they have to ply their trade in other places.
Now there's a story you should pursue...

It's important to me because Spielberg mentions his Cincinnati childhood in the "Spielberg on Spielberg" documentary at 8 p.m. Monday on Turner Classic Movies. So I was looking for folks who might have known the family... and I found some through this soliciation.

I think that people who post negatives about the city aren't doing so to bring the city down, they're sick and tired of business as usual and are looking for positive change within their own community. Maybe they're possibly trying to make things better for us here.
And the problem is that they are (creative people) moving. In huge numbers.
We have to do something positive to keep the creative one's here, not post missives with the predictable 'move if you don't like' it mantra attached.
And we wonder why the creative folks are leaving...?
Time for a major change, Cincy!

People rag on this city because this city deserves to be ragged on. And no, I won't move. But I will try to make it a better place for creative's to thrive. What are you doing to make this a better place? Sitting back and complaining without doing anything probably.
