Good News for Jericho Fans

Don't go nuts, yet, "Jericho" fans. But Television Week and TV Guide say CBS is close to reversing its decision to cancel "Jericho," after passionate fans sent hundreds of pounds of peanuts to CBS.

Says Television Week: "Sources close to the production said the network is near4 a deal with "Jericho" producers to bring the show back at midseason."

That way episodes could run without interruption, like "24." Ratings for "Jericho," "Lost" and "Heroes" dropped in the spring after a long hiatus.

Don't see anywhere else to post this, so has Tricia Macke had her baby yet? I don't see anywhere on Fox 19's site about it. Thanks!

Also, any updates about David Rose? I miss him and hope he gets help if that is what he needed.

Awesome! Even if it doesn't work out at CBS, you think there'd be enough interest for a cable network to pick up the show..

Talk about a cliff hanger! There are SO many ways things could go after the season finale...

News 5 does it again - changing their Top Stories ballot mid-election. Too few of you care about this - its blatant dishonesty from a news organization that should pride itself on trust.

Let's see. If sending nuts to CBS ends up saving a series, it could start a whole new strategy. If your lamented and canceled series was, say, "Northern Exposure," you could have sent moose droppings. How about instead of grieving over the announced loss of the George Lopez series, mail lopads of nacho chips to the decision-maker. "Passions" ending too soon for you? Package some oysters and mail them off. Should CBS fold on this and bring the series back, it may put business vitality back in snail mail and make the postal service near-profitable again.

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.

A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.

We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

Kiese, how about doing a formal article in the Enquirer about how the "nuts" campaign ended up saving the day? This is certainly not the first time a fan campaign has resurrected a show from the boneyard, but I would hazard it is the swiftest reversal in TV history, and the level of organization, precision, and SPEED with which this campaign took shape would have to be unprecedented. Maybe you could interview Louis while you're at it!

this is like what happened to family guy a few years ago. fox cancelled the series, but then after a few years of fans emailing and calling fox brought family guy back.

This isn’t exactly like Family Guy’s resurrection. In that case FOX saw the light by the ratings the reruns did on cable and the dollars it made in DVD sales. This is more like when the fans saved Party of Five

Actually, family guy was not brought back because of fan complaints, it was brought back because Fox realized it was making a gazillion dollars in DVD sales of the series.

Yes, it is blatant dishonesty. Pick the top 5 stories you want to see at 5pm. People vote. And then they tune in expecting to see the top stories THEY voted on, but, oops, they changed the ballot mid-election.

How would you feel if you went to the polls and voted for a candidate then tune into the news and find out that person was removed from the ballot two hours after you cast your vote.

It is an issue. It is a problem. It speaks to the news organization's credibility and integrity.

Even though this isn't a comment about Jericho, I have to wonder - "Anon Disgruntled Top 5 Voter" if you are so peeved at 5 why watch them? Cast the ultimate vote by turning to another station. You won't be frustrated by their dishonesty because you won't know it's happening, because you won't be watching. They loose even more viewers, they loose even more ratings, they pay for their dishonesty, Jericho returns to the schedule and all is well with the world.

while we're talking credibility, let's not forget to ask once again how much channel 9 paid for its diagnosis of "most accurate forecast"...you know, the one that was shopped around to the other stations first.

also how about we question the credibility of channel 12 for calling absolutely every story either breaking or developing. kiese had no shortage of righteous anger at channel 5 in the bad old days...but he just can't seem to find the ink to hammer rob and kit, can he?

Firstly, the whole thing is to drive people to their web site, pure and simple. The more hits to their site, the more they charge advertisers. Why do you think the clowns at Clear Channel radio are REQUIRED to "blog" and then beat it into your head while they are on air. Obviously, a simpleton like you, can not figure that out.

Secondly, since this is such an unofficial "poll", the comparison you made to a political election is apples and turnips. Not even in the same category.

So, if a story falls through, you'd rather we go on the air at 5 and say "Your number 3 story was about the new stadium tax, but the story fell through, so we don't have it"?

And why have you never bothered to complain to News 5 about it? If you had, I would have gotten the e-mail, and no one's ever said anything about this before.

And to save you the complaint--I've had to change the Top 5 list three times today due to stories falling through.

FYI, votes that are made for stories that get dropped are not moved to the replacement story--they get dropped, too. Replacement stories start out at zero.

Again - its a credibility issue. A news organization should operate above board. If they say you choose the news, that's how it should work.

Clearly, no one watches the schlock on 5. I don't watch it. But if I catch on to blantant dishonesty, I will point it out.

You can live in a cloud, and say it doesn't matter or whatever. I don't care - I have my arguements. I will make them when I want. You can call me an idiot or loser. I feel bad that that's all you got.

Then I guess we'll have to disagree. There's no obligation to tell people that a story isn't a story, implied or otherwise. If anyone wants to know why a story got pulled, they can drop us an e-mail or call, and we'll tell them.

But no one's ever done that. So, I suppose, if you care that much, you can be the first.

You should put an asterisk up with "Ballot updated at xx:xx". At least then people would know the list had been changed.

I got hooked on Jerico from the beginning. And when American Idol was on @ the same time {pip} on my TV was used alot.It did upset me when I read it was canceled. NBC as well as other's show repeats so quick & then don't know why the rating fall. If you watched it 4 weeks ago, why watch it again. That is another reason 24 is so good. You never get a repeat for the whole season. Other's could learn from them. I don't understand Gray's A. either showing the same show both Thursday & Friday !!! Why!! if your not home on Thurday you record it. Are the ratings that high when they show it again on Friday??? Someone needs to address why they don't have something else to show that we didn't all ready watch !!!! Any fool can show the same show over & over again, but just how long do you think that's going to work...........

Now that I will take under consideration. However, I'm not sure who it benefits--most people who vote don't come back because they can't vote again. But it wouldn't be hard to implement.
