Good. WGUC is the only decent radio station in this market. Consolidation has sucked the life out of all the others!!

Didn't WGUC consolidate the life out of WVXU?

No. WGUC consolidated the "garbage" out of WVXU. A bunch of geeks led by the Doctor who didn't realize that radio and culture has changed since 1985. Funny how their numbers went UP after WGUC took over.

Wvxu's numbers have NOT gone up. As evidenced by the endless pleas for financial support with phrases such as "you know you listen so you know you should support us. It's actually funny how WVXU's numbers have gone DOWN after the "consolidation" (read, hostile take over/ betrayal, of all the work put into the "old" WVXU for almost 30 years by some very talented people.)
As far as culture and radio changing since 1985. Yes radio has changed for the worse, as evidenced by the utterly sorry state of everything that Clear Channel controls in Cincinnati.

That so called "garbage" seems to be doing very well indeed at WMKV now that the crew from the "old" WVXU has moved there. WMKV is doing well with fund raising and is also providing a valuable service by preserving the history of broadcasting in Cincinnati and the US through the great work of Media Heritage.

That so called "bunch of geeks" at WMKV now, have got a lot to be proud of.

in regards to Anon at 7:57./
I somewhat agree with your WMKV comments. The sad part about that place is if you are further than 16 feet from their transmitter, you can't get it on the average radio. I agree with your comment that Clear Channel has ruined everything locally. They all think everything is a big joke! I can't stand anything they do. I wish someone would buy one of their 50,000 watt station and do something good with it!!

ANON 7:57...Sorry, but WVXU's numbers HAVE gone up, and WMKV is a non-factor. I hear the old folks don't like it anymore thanks to the geeks.

Stop blaming Clear Channel for everything. Out of about 30 radio stations, they own 8.

Typical snob.
