Chris Sehring Heading To Portland

This just in from Chris Sehring, who resigned last week as WKRC-TV (Channel 12) general manager. He's president and GM at KOIN-TV, CBS affiliate in Portland, Ore. Here's his email:

John:

I am pleased to share with you (at last) that I will be joining Portland's KOIN-TV as its new President and GM. KOIN is the CBS affiliate in the 23rd DMA.

KOIN has a long, proud, and rich legacy as one of the premier television stations in the Northwest. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to KOIN's continuing success in these challenging and exciting times!

I wish you and my Cincinnati colleagues and friends great success in the future. As a "native Buckeye" with many family roots in Ohio, I am sure that our paths will cross again. Stay in touch!

With warm regards,

Chris

PS: I remain a staunch Bengals and Buckeyes fan here in the Northwest!

We wish Chris all the best of luck.
We might actually have a chance now.

Response to 5 manager:

What does Sehring have to do with News 5's poor planning, execution and lack of credibility?

You still have no chance.

anyone who believes a 5 manager actually posted that probably still thinks kiese and his blog have some credibility.
come on. it's another transparent attempt to hijack the blog to slam 5..and once again, john's turning a blind eye to it so he can indulge his own prejudices.

TV 5 Reporter Emily Longnecker is the latest causality. Antie Em is off to the N0 1. station in Indy!
Damn, that place can't keep anybody.
And I hear Candice Hunter is off to anchor for some crappy station in Dayton.
Let's see, this year alone:
Jim O'Brien.
Tom Sussi.
And now those two. That's four on-air people just this year.
Not to mention producers.

John,
This is off the subject, but what do you think of the I-Team story on Simon Leis? I was suprised to see that WCPO was doing a story on him becasue of the conflict of interest they have.

Channel 5's fireworks coverage says it all.

Score: 1 - 1
One message with class, and one that's just crass.

Wasn't Sehring at Channel 12? You both lose. Pay attention.

There really is no conflict in covering Simon Leis. If a TV station had to step aside everytime someone in a story had a connection to someone at the station, there would probably be no news. I think there definitely would have been a conflict if Steve Raleigh would have done the interview, but since he does WEATHER, there's not much of a conflict there, is there? A simple resolution would have been to have the anchor say, and by the way, Si is Steve Raleigh's father-in-law.
