Kim Taylor's Music on "The Unit"

If you watch CBS' "The Unit" season premiere today (9 p.m., Channels 12, 7), listen for the song "Myself" by Kim Taylor, Cincinnati musician and owner of the Pleasant Perk coffee shop on Montgomery Road in Pleasant Ridge. It's from her first album, "So Black, So Bright," recorded in 2002.

Taylor, a Florida native, came to Cincinnati in 1996 to finish a degree in English. She began performing locally, and never finished her degree. She lives in Wyoming with her husband and son.

Her website http://www.kim-taylor.net mentions tonight's TV show, but doesn't explain how her song was selected for the CBS spy drama.

On Sept. 5, I asked about Time Warner’s Channel 24, which is either a community access channel or a PBS station from Portsmouth. I have TW for the city of Cincinnati.

Other posters followed with additional comments. Joshua, your comment about the Portsmouth station being for the eastern edge of TW’s coverage makes sense, so thanks for mentioning that. Another person wanted to know the status of Channel 32, now that ESPN Classic is gone.

I know most of you don’t give a darn about my comments, but I do have questions at the end of this regarding community access, which is aired on 4, 15, 17, 18, 22, 23 and 24.

I watched the community access channels and learned the following:

4: In Green Township, it’s a TV schedule. In Cincinnati, it used to be the Arts Channel and Media Bridges promos. Now it’s a new channel, Free Speech, plus some MB promos.
15: A mixture of MB promos, religious programming and community organization meetings.
17: EWTN ( a religious network) almost all the time.
18: TBN (a religious network) almost all the time.
22: Mostly DW-TV (a religious network), plus some MB promos.
23: The ICRC station, plus some educational and Ohio-related programming.
24: In Green Township, a TV schedule. In Cincinnati, a mix of MB promos, ICRC and community organization meetings.

So here are my questions for Time Warner: Although I suspect that Media Bridges, the religious programmers and you will disagree, is it really necessary to have three religious stations plus all those promotional announcements from MB on four different stations? And I, too, want to know what’s going to be on Channel 32, and it’s not necessary for it to be another religious or Media Bridges channel.

These are suggestions, although I know that no one will listen to me or agree with me: I’d like to see the beleaguered Channel 38 return to cable status, or one of the following from the digital tiers--Hallmark (my first choice), American Life, BBC America, Biography, Boomerang, IFC or Sleuth.

I know that this is probably asking waaaayyyy tooooo much, and that some of you who want all sports all the time are banging your heads against your computers by now, but I’m entitled to my opinion.

That's great news - we've admired Kim's writing ability & really great voice for some years now. Curious as to how the song will be positioned in this show. We'll see. Go, KT
