Cumulus Stations Feed The Children

The three local Cumuls FM stations – WARM98, WGRR and SupertalkFM96.5 – raised $37,271 during its Tuesday marathon for Feed the Children.

Station officials say that amount will help feed 7,454 Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky families. The money is used to pay for gas and truck drivers to deliver donated food in Feed the Children warehouses.

Cumulus has done similar marathons in Nashville and other cities.

Thank you for this report, sincerely. Congrats to the stations, and to the families who will be fed.

Good for Cumulus, a live corp. in Cincy, cause best is on there--Carmon DeLeone, and Andy Furman
who keep the sound waves alive for us. We listen. eM-M

Enough of radio's pompous "ignore that man behind the curtain" game. Thank these broadcasters for nothing. They devalue listeners as unimportant know nothing buffoons. They treat employees like pigs to the slaughter. But raise money for some charity, send out a press release and we're supposed to think they're Mother Teresa. Sorry. I'm not buying the hype. These goofballs don't do this because they care about their community. Their only care is about the public face it gives them, and how it will look on their next application for a Marconi award.

Cumulus won't feed my children, or the kids of the many employees they've fired since May 2006. Why don't you ask them how much money they made on selling sponsorships to Belterra Casino which were played during their "charity work" that day?

Some people are just here to complain about anything.
Give me an article about the sky being blue and you people would make a smartass remark about it.
Please move away. You're making this town more hateful.

Please move away?

I did. Ages ago. Because of people like you, who'd rather ignore the reality of their city, than work to improve it.

We've had too much blue sky lately. We need rain, and possibly a classic rock station that doesn't play Brandy. :)

Put Supertalk out of it's misery and bring back 96 Rock!

It's amazing how many people will comment on something stupid like the so called fight on WLW a few weeks ago. And then Cumulus tries to do something good and only a few comments and half are complaints.

If you work in radio - or ever have, especially in the past decade or so - you might appreciate the "complaints."

It's a dirty, thankless, and shrinking business.. Like many broadcasting outlets, there used to be a lot more "fun." Not to was nostalgic on you here, but it's true.

Low wages, major cutbacks, etc.. Unfortunately, what others have posted on here is the truth. Yes, it is wonderful that families ended up being fed. Nothing wrong with that. But you have to understand that these same radio conglomerates have hurt many, many people along the way.

Just keep in mind that there are (at least) two sides to every story. It's always good to see big companies looking out for the little guy.. But what's the old expression? Something about robbing Peter to feed Paul, I believe.

Another good example - we've got elections coming up. This year and next. Let's pretend that the ONLY reason ANY of the candidates is running - is for you and me. See what I mean?

Look with your eyes, but make sure you listen to what's going on around you.

ANON...It's not Cumulus's job to feed your family as it seems you've managed to survive.

What a shocker! Radio companies fire people! This should be front page news. Who would've thought?

Get over your bitterness. It's time to move on. If you've moved away, why do you continue to frequent a board in a city you despise so much. We don't need you to tell us what's happening here. We stayed and we're all doing fine.

It's not the city I despise. It's the head in the sand, avoid reality at any cost, people like you. Go ahead. Throw a little money at some lame radio promotion, and all is well with the world.

What reality am I avoiding? Please tell me. Who doesn't know that any corporation doesn't do these things out of the goodness of their hearts?

You are so bitter, it's disgusting. Quit trying to "school" us. We know quite well what's happening.

Please go back to your life and step away from the blog.

Nothing gives me a bigger laugh than watching the Cumulus team on the defensive.

Ignore the issue and spin the poster as "bitter."

Come on Cumulus. You're supposed to be pros in a communications field. You can do better than that.

If I worked at Cumulus that would be true. But, why is this person so bitter and why are you standing up for them?

I don't get it. Why should Cumulus be defensive anyway? What did they do wrong? What's the spin? Clue us in!

Nothing gives me a bigger laugh than seeing people go after a company that did a radiothon. What's wrong with that? Becaus ethey made some money on it themselves? OK. Tell Cumulus to give all the money back and take that money raised away from the charity. Are you happy now?

Oops.

Looks like someone spilled a little too much inside information.
