Miley Cyrus Gets The Picture

It must be tough being a 15-year-old superstar trying to show your maturity while working for the Walt Disney Co.

Vanity Fair has an excellent profile of Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana," in which she's called "the biggest child start since Shirley Temple, give or take a couple of Macaulay Culkin movies, or an Olsen twin." She seems very grounded to me.

Yes, she says "Sex and the City" is her favorite show, which probably didn't make Disney folks happy. But she also loves "I Love Lucy." She also reveals that she keeps in touch with Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, so maybe they've given her advice on how not to crash and burn. And she says she relies on her parents – mom Tish and dad Billy ray Cyrus – to keep her in line.

Obviously the photos by Annie Leibovitz (some with her dad) are another attempt to grow up a little. She now says she regrets the controversial photos, one of her topless wrapped in a sheet.

Here’s what the says in Vanity Fair about the pictures: "I think it's really artsy. It wasn't in a skanky way... and you can't say no to Annie. She's so cute."

Here's what she says now, according to ABC News: "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."

The Disney Channel has chimed in with: "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."

Art or embarrassment? You can judge. Read the story at

The story has a link to the "Tween Angel" gallery of 18 photos, though it's not working now.

What do you think?

What is the hurry to make these young kids appear so much older? Why does the media think it's okay to make fifteen year old girls into sex objects? It's not okay. It's bad enough we have kids walking around looking like street workers and strippers.

This reminds me of the comedian who once told a story about dress attire. He said women, who dress like a ho, are offended men treat them as such, telling them men "just because I'm dressed this way doesn't mean you can treat me that way." One day he decided to get a police costume and walk down the street. He heard a lady yell at him because a crook stole her purse. She asked him why he didn't help her. He told her, "just because I look like a cop doesn't mean I am one."

Miley's parents were AT the photgraphy session and her dad posed with her in one photo.

Did they not notice the shoot was a bit much for a 15 year old, bare backed with sexy look on her face?

She admits her favorite show is Sex In the City?? Yikes!! A very ADULT R Rated show imo. Then again, I have seen clips on TV of Miley's mom posing with Miley as mom wears cleavage baring necklines.

Is the daugther a meal ticket for the parents?

Are they fake Christians like Jessica Simpson and her former minister father/now manager? He spouted off Jessica could not be a "Christian singer" due to her large chest. Joe Simpson comes off creepy talking about his daughter was too sexy for Christian Pop singing. So they sex her up more. Ugh.

This whole obsession with young girls is not healthy. While one can blame the media and the magazine, the bottom line is the PARENTS ALLOWED THEIR DAUGHTER to be put in this situation.

Shame.

Miley's parents wanted her to break away from the kid image and Disney did not.

Billy Ray Cyrus had one big hit, "Achy Breaky Heart". Then his career tanked. Thanks to Miley, the Cyrus family can once again enjoy the spotlight. Do not be surprised to see more racy pictures of Miley showing up on the internet. She will probably end up like Britney, who became famous too young and is now paying the price.

OR...until Disney churns out another hit teen TV show with another female teenager!! Give it 3-5 yrs,
another young starlet will appear before us and Miley will be gone, forgotten, or not nearly as popular, just like the Lizzie McGuire character.
