Tim Hedrick Science Show Repeats Friday

Updated 10:30 a.m. Weds 4/2: If you watched Tim Hedrick's "Science Spectacular" last night, you saw that the audio was out of sync with the video for the first segment. So Channel 12 will repeat the special at 7 p.m. Friday. It's a fun half-hour. Too bad we don't have more local specials on TV here...

Here's what I wrote before it aired Tuesday:

Tim Hedrick continues his quest to make science fun for kids of all ages with 12 experiments they can do at home on his "Doppler Tim’s Science Spectacular" today at 7 p.m. (Channel 12).

Hedrick, Channel 12's chief meteorologist since 1988, will be joined by musician Bootsy Collins, Police Chief Tom Streicher, chef Jean-Robert de Cavel and Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard.

"I have done about three dozen experiments during newscasts and have taken some of the best experiments that kids can do at home for this half-hour special. All of the footage is new. I present 12 experiments with a few variations and one project (a hovercraft) that kids can make at home," he says.

"The pace is fast and fun. It is geared for the family. My guests help with the infamous Coke/Mentos experiment in familiar Cincinnati surroundings. (i.e. the District 1 police station, the Zoo, Fountain Square, the sidewalk in front of Pigals.) I wrote the special. Jenny Overholts has helped produce, and magician/editor Mark did the editing," he says.

I have seen a couple of his 'experiments'. They are almost as bad as his weather forecasts.

John: What time does the show end? I want to online sked my Tivo but it's not showing up in the Tivo online line-up. I know some kids who would probably love to see this (plus I'll probably enjoy it, too).

Thanks,
Joe

It's worth noting that WKRC's Web site lists a half-hour of "Doppler Radar" on its online TV sked at 7 p..m. tonight. Might that actually be Hedrick's show? Otherwise, might there be 30 minutes of radar on Ch. 12 tonight? That wouldn't be so entertaining...

Joe:
Show a half-hour, 7-7:30 p.m. Yes, Channel 12's online TV schedule lists a half hour of Doppler radar info, not Doppler Tim's special....

John,
This isn't really about Tim's show tonight, but rather something on at the same time.
On Jeopardy tonight Alex had a moustache in the Jeopardy round, and was clean shaven in Double Jeopardy. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen.

How did Tim's audio never match his mouth? The audio was a half second early from the way his mouth moved for at least the first segment. It was so bad at times I had to switch it off.

Wah-wah..any idiot could have noted that the first part was all fubarred up with voice and lips differently.

It is the thought that counts.

Can any of you do any better?

Nah, so quit your whining.

Remember what was that former musical group?

Remember that issue on SNL...

Get a life, people.

It was incredibly well done except for that part.

Maybe he could do more of these often?

Derek said that Steve Raleigh could do better.
